SPECIAL EDUCATION SERVICES

Foxfire Special Education Department serves students who have been identified as having disabilities under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDIEA 2004). Services are provided in accordance with Ohio’s Operating Standards for Children with Disabilities and the Special Education Model Policies and Procedures.

Our special education program is designed to ensure students receive individualized and specialized supports and services to the maximum extent possible for full access and participation in grade level curriculum. Specialized instruction designed by Intervention Specialists, General Education Teachers, and Related Service Providers, is strategic, flexible, data-driven and tied to strong core instruction with multi-tiered systems of support.

CHILD FIND

Each year school districts throughout Ohio participate in an effort to identify, locate, and evaluate all children with disabilities, birth through 21. A disability means there are conditions such as a multi-handicap, hearing, visual, orthopedic, and/or other health handicaps, severe behavior disorder, and/or speech/language handicap. Many times children with disabilities are not visible because they do not function in the mainstream of a community. Parents are not always aware that there are programs and services available for these children. If you know of a child within the Foxfire School System who may have one or more of the above-suspected disabilities, including pre-school age children, please contact Caren Maniaci, Director of Special Education for Foxfire Schools at 740-453-4509.
