A Message from the Superintendent
Mr. Todd Whiteman - Superintendent
Dear Foxfire Community Member,
As we prepare for the start of an exciting new school year, it is my privilege to welcome you to the start of the 2023-2024 school year. Foxfire Schools is a place that I am thrilled and excited to call home to students from 21 different districts and 8 different counties.
Foxfire is a special place where families, staff, and community partners care deeply about each other and the overall well-being of our students. We remain dedicated to continuing to provide our students with an excellent alternative education no matter the challenges we may encounter as well as thinking outside the box in our delivery model. Foxfire schools will work together with you, your students, and each other to engage our students and ensure that they reach their full potential.
We have accomplished a lot at Foxfire Schools over the years. We are extremely proud to be recognized as “The Model Drop Out Recovery School District'' by the U.S. Department of Education and promise to build upon the tradition and culture we have established. We pride ourselves on Developing the Whole Child and providing innovative personalized instruction. We specialize in teaching at–risk youth by eliminating/reducing non-academic barriers and connecting our students to pathways, resources, and community connections.
Student mental health, adaptive behaviors and core values are at the forefront of today’s youth .Despite the new challenges and barriers in today’s schools we are 100% committed to fighting these battles to ensure that we develop the whole child. Foxfire provides a multitude of embedded services to address the non-academic barriers our students face which includes a full time school resource officer, licensed social workers, mental health counselors, drug/alcohol counselor, family counseling, school nurse, student services –transitions coordinator, and career readiness coordinator. The goal is to create strong personal connections and personalize each child’s educational plan. Every member of our community is a critical stakeholder in the education of our students and their future. We need your collaboration, partnership, and support in meeting the needs of our youth and community.
